Video card + odd problems in trial version

I’m trialling ZBrush trial and need to know if my video card - NVIDIA Geforce 9600 GT is ok because Im getting some odd problems:

On occasions the model has suddenly looked pixellated and I have to restart ZBrush.

I’m following from Lynda.com, but when I click on Draw Polyframe the mesh turns a dark purple which is hard to see. The mesh in the Lynda tutes looks much “cleaner”.

Also…is there any way to use the standard Ctrl Z (on pc) in ZBrush to undo an action, instead of going to the Edit menu?

Any help very much appreciated.

firstly the purple color is due to the demohead having a polygroup, which happens to be colored blue, but looks purple because of the redwax material.
secondly i believe you are zooming the canvas and that is why your image is looking pixelated, or your canvas is too small, remember to scale the model not zoom it.
ctrlz does work for me, if not assign a hotkey to the undo button.

Thanks for your reply spaceboy412, I’m kinda new at this so not sure what a polygroup is or how to change its color. The pixellation just suddenly happens…not when I’m zoomed in. The only way back to normality is to restart ZBrush. I’m not sure how to assign a hot key yet, but I’m downloading the help files so I can check there. Jackie.

what size is your canvas? are you sure you haven’t zoomed? when that happens go to the zoom menu up top and hit the “actual” button. see if that helps.
there are two things new users get confused in relation to zooming, one is canvas based, where you zoom into the pixels which get larger, the other is scaling which will make your model bigger on the canvas but would seem to be zooming it, but you won’t see large pixels.

also wiki is good too:

and the free videos are helpful too:

The pixellation hasn’t happened the last few times but if it does I’ll try your suggestion. Thanks too for the links.

I’m really enjoying learning ZBrush. I thought it would be hard, but so far it’s not too bad. I downloaded a trial version a couple of years after it first came out but gave up. It seems more streamlined now and easier to learn.
