Victor Hugo Sousa's new Sketchbook

Hey guys, how are you? It’s been a while since my last post, but I’ve been working and studying a lot.

I will start this thread with this new project done in a workshop with Rafael Grassetti(http://grassettiart.com/). Concept by Thiago Almeida(http://thiagoalmeida-art.blogspot.com.br/).

Hope you guys like it. :+1:

Brilliant love this victor! can I ask did you use fibermesh for the leaves?

great sculpt!

Hey Earth! Thanks a lot man, I’m glad you liked it!

And about the leaves, I didn’t use fibermesh, I modeled them in a small groups and placed them by hand

Thanks again man.

Great job!!! I really like how this character turned out.

Hey Jic, I’m really glad that you liked it man. Thanks a lot!

I love it, fierce feeling! BTW great concepts by Thiago Almeida:+1:

Hey man! I’m glad you liked it and I totally agree, the character is cool just because of his amazing concepts! He is awesome. :+1:

Hey guys, here is another project that was done during a workshop with Pedro Toledo. Concept by Thiago Almeida.

Hope you like it =).

The Robot is excellent; love the design! Thanks for sharing!

Hey Joseph, thanks a lot man. :+1:

Great texturing; using Mari maybe ? What render engine ? I have to learn this

Hey Tetsuoo, thanks a lot man! :+1:

Yeah, for the Yggdrasil I’ve used Mari and for the Robot Mudbox and both were rendered with VRay2 in Max.

Cheeers man.

Hey guys, how are you?

I will post some pictures and explain a little of what I’ve done for this 2 projects. I will start with the Yggdrasil.

To start everything, I have to give credits to Thiago Almeida(http://thiagoalmeida-art.blogspot.com.br/), who made an awesome concept.

And I’ve started the model with this basemesh that you can find in the internet.

basemesh.jpg

This is how the model evolved during the workshop with Rafael Grassetti(http://grassettiart.com/).

I basically work with this model as a traditional sculpture and for that I used this brush along with the alphas below, to sculpt and refine the details:

These are the alphas that I’ve used as drag and drop.

WoodRough0046_1_L_Alpha.jpg
WoodRough0078_1_L_Alpha.jpg

But every time that I’ve finished a layer of details, I used the QRMesher(a wonderful tool, as you don’t need do make another retopology everytime you want more mesh resolution) to fix the mesh. As you can see the tool is great!

And I’ve done the texture base in Mari(that’s another software along with ZBrush, that I can’t live without anymore).

Here is a printscreen of the diffuse texture.

Here are some render tests:

Then I used Transpose Master(another great tool, so I don’t have to rig the character) to pose the character:

And the final passes that I’ve composed using photoshop, where I color corrected everything and added some minor details.

I hope you guys like it and as soon as I can I will post some pictures about the robot. =) cheers!

well done Victor!
