very slow zbrush performance!!!

Hi there z people!

Im having some issues with my current performance in zbrush and i was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction in order to fix this.

Basically when i try to zoom and orbit around a mesh that has a considerable amount of polygons such as the big guy example model in zbrush, im having a very hard time to have zbrush working smoothly.

My current specs are:

ASUS GTX 660
AMD Phenom 2 X4 955
Asus m5a78l-m lx motherboard
2 x KINGSTON HyperX 4 GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 CL9

Im pretty sure i should get better results inside zbrush with these specs.

I would apreciate some guidance on this as im very frustrated working like this.

Thanks in advance

go to preferences>mem (or memory…not sure off hand)

make sure your compact mem is set to 4096 (4GB), right now you’re telling zBrush it only has .25GB of RAM to use

that was the first thing i did , and it really didnt improve a bit … which is strange…

That’s actually not true. That setting only affects Zbrush when it’s not the program in focus, in other words only when Zbrush is running in the background. Which means it won’t affect his issue.

The question isn’t just the specs but what size is the model. How many polygons are we talking about?
