Im really trying to figure out this whole displacement map process, but I still have some questions.
My second question is if i start model in zbrush, generate a displacement off of it, when i bring it to maya will it lay out corractly?

You do have to have UV’s for any map to be able to be applied to the model. Those UV’s can be created in Maya, ZBrush, or some other app, but you do need them.
Models created in ZBrush will typically have UV’s assigned automatically. You can also assign UV’s at any time by going to level 1 and applying a blank texture to your model that’s the same size as the map you’ll export. Then press Tool>Texture>GUVTiles or AUVTiles.
