Very New to 3D.. need a texture tutorial!

Hi,
I have never done 3D art of any kind before, but have fallen in love with zBrush, it is amazing! I have done my first sculpted head with the help from Jason Welsh’s turorials and have poly painted it. But I want to texture the eyes using some textures I found on these forums, when I apply the texture it looks out of place and no turning or flipping in the textures options makes any difference.

Can anyone suggest a texture tutorial for a complete novice? The eyes are not perfect spheres (kind of squashed to fit the eye sockets), which may not help.

Thanks very much in advance.

I’ve got the texture looking ok on a polymesh sphere. But can’t get it so the texture is only on the eyes not the head (eyes are a sub tool) any ideas.

ZBrush 3.12 can assign textures to individual SubTools, so the Mac users are ahead of the game right now in this area. As a 3.1 user, what you need to do is convert your texture to PolyPaint using the Tool:small_orange_diamond:Texture:small_orange_diamond:Txr>Col button.

You can learn more about PolyPaint from the documentation and ZClassroom in my signature.

Thanks.

I ended up applying textures and the “dropping them”? using shift s. It was a horrible way of doing it as I could not move the main part of my sculpture in sync with the bit’s I’d textured. I’ll def check out the poly painting approach.
