Hi, this is probably a common problem with an easy solution but I can’t figure it out, I have searched and looked through the forum but i can’t find the answer. here is a picture of what is happening when I subdivide my model… The model was created in Maya 8.5 and imported into ZB 3.1. Please let me know how I can fix this, Thanks,
Larry
This is most likely a scaling issue. Try using the Size deformation to make the model larger or smaller before you divide it. If the problem gets worse, go the other direction. If it gets better, go farther. A quick and dirty test is to use Tool>Deformation>Unify. But that’s not good to keep if the scale of the model needs to stay accurate relative to other stuff you’re doing.
that worked! Thank you very much!
I’m sorry I spoke to soon. It did work but not when I appended it as a subtool. I tried to subdivide the obj by itself, but when I append it in the subtool then divided it I had the same problem. When I scaled it didn’t work and when I unified it worked until I scaled it back to size. I am going to eraze the problem areas in maya and try it again, if that doesn’t work I am going to model a bridge to gap the pieces together to see if that works.
