Vector Displacement Setting for Cinema 4D

Hello,

Could someone please post the correct vector displacement settings for Cinema 4D? I know that the FliipAndSwitch numbers are 3 and in C4D the Displacement Type should be RGB (XYZ World).

However, when I’m using RGB (XYZ World) my object is being pushed off the render window. So for example, if I center the object (say a sphere) in the viewport and do the displacement, the sphere will end up in the lower left corner of the rendered image (or even becomes invisible due to the fact that it was pushed off the screen).

Displacement itself comes in sharp and in good detail, I’m just not sure why the object is keep being pushed off.

Thanks

Can anybody explain the difference between vector displacemant and normal displacemant map?

Hey buddy, start your own thread! It’s FREE!

Normal maps and grayscale maps can only displace in one direction, perpendicular to the face normal. Vector displacement doesn’t have that limitation. No disrespect but pentool is right, you should start your own thread or even better search for any that already exist. Google and Youtube are also quite helpful.

PS: Think of my also off topic post as a means of subscribing to this thread. I don’t use C4D but I do have an interest in VDM. Hope this isn’t a problem, pentool, and I hope someone who has your answers takes some time to post them.

I found a thread over at CGTalk about this with some progress…
