UVs separate on import into Maya

I know this is a simple one, but I have to ask it anyway.
I built a model within Maya. UV’d it. Exported it as an obj. Imported that obj into ZBrush. Then exported the model as an obj out of ZBrush with mrg checked and grp unchecked.
Then when I import that obj into Maya my UVs are all separated. Why is it doing this when in the export settings in Zbrush I checked merge to be on? I thought that solved that issue?
Is there something else that I’m forgetting?
