UV Unwrapping Problem

Dear Zbrushers,

When I unwrap a male humaniod model it mucks up. I’ve been able to use Zbrush t o Unwrap it.

Is it because the models mouth is not only open, but has an enclosure (i.e. cavity). I say this because of the all the models I see have their mouths closed.

Nonetheless, I have tried several attempts to correct the poor UV fittings that I get when I apply a checker texture. I’ve tried color painting the areas where I should get seams, etc, but the Zbrush Plugin is unable to correctly sort it out. Hence I feel it may be due to the mesh having an enclosure.

What I mean by “enclosure/cavity” is that the mesh, which is all intact btw, is simply the mouth cavity. The lips are not touching.

Hope this can help.

kind regards,
Ash

sounds like UV master isn’t going to fix your problem. You’ll need to take your mesh into an actual unwrapper.

Would it help if I cut out the mouth cavity?

couldn’t hurt to try.

i decided to do a retopo pass and then ununwrap it.

took v. long though.
