UV Master - Pasting UV's onto Sclupt

I’m having a problem with UV Master. I go through the whole process, create a clone, paint protect/attract, unwrap, copy UV’s. I then switch back to the original sclupt and attempt to paste UV’s. At this point, Zbrush seems to be working…, I get the small arrow with a Z next to it but nothing else happens. I waited 30 minutes the other day without any success.

I tested this on a computer much more powerful than my own and got the same results. I also attempted to use a lower resolution subdivision, deleting the higher subdivisions… no change. I’m not sure what’s going on. Has anyone had a similar experience and/or might know what’s going on? Any help would be appreciated.

I know there is a way to unwrap the model in 3DS Max and project it onto my Zbrush model but I haven’t found a tutorial explaining this process. As an alternative, if anyone knows of a good tutorial explaining how to do this, that would work too.

Thanks in advance,
John Anderson

Whenever you modify a model’s UV mapping you must be at subdivision level 1. No need to delete the higher levels; just be at level 1.

I just tried pasting on subdivision 1 but no luck. Same thing as before. I’ve decided to unwrap the model in 3DS Max but I’m going to need help projecting the UV’s onto my sculpt. Any suggestions for good tutorials?

The only time this happened to me with UVMaster was when I accidentally pasted the UV’s onto the wrong subtool (they looked almost identical, reverse sides of the same item and I clicked the wrong one by accident) and Zbrush just sat there and eventually hung up on me until I killed it via Task Manager.

Maybe something as simple as that? UV Master works 100% for me with copy and paste uvs and except that single solitary time I’ve never had to wait longer than about half a second for the transfer so other than that possibly non-helpful info I’ve got nothing.

I have the same problem created a head in max sculpt it in zbrush than did the steps of going to lowest subd. make clone paint the seam attreckt area etc. unwrap no problem there. copy uv… and than I go to the original tool model and press paste uv and than you can wait forever…

I was wondering if there is a solution yet… if I don’t use a clone (so just work without the attrackt seam painting) it works fine but the seems are wrong than…

I unwrapped mine in 3DS Max, but I solved the problem by opening up my high poly tool, then importing the unwrapped .obj. This replaces the previous .obj, including the UV’s.

My suggestion, once you’re done unwrapping, export it as an .obj with the original .obj filename. Then close Zbrush and reopen it. Open the high poly tool and then import the unwrapped .obj. The UV’s should import with it and will transfer to the high poly subdivision.

I’m crossing my fingers for you. Good luck.

I came across this bug as well even though I have used UV Master before without any problems. My model is imported from Maya 2011 with all normals set correctly. I’m using Windows 7 64-bit with ZBrush 3.5R3

I can set seams and unwrap my model very nicely but after copying the uvs and going to the original model and pressing 'paste uvs', ZBrush shows a tiny 'z' icon for couple seconds and crashes. The error (in finnish) looks like this: Ongelmatapahtuman nimi: APPCRASH Sovelluksen nimi: ZBrush.exe Sovelluksen versio: 3.5.3.0 Sovelluksen aikaleima: 4b0bfb06 Vikamoduulin nimi: ZBrush.exe Vikamoduulin versio: 3.5.3.0 Vikamoduulin aikaleima: 4b0bfb06 Poikkeuskoodi: c0000005 Poikkeuksen poikkeama: 035622e2 Käyttöjärjestelmän versio: 6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.1 Aluekohtaisten asetusten tunnus: 1035 Lisätietoja 1: 0a9e Lisätietoja 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 Lisätietoja 3: 0a9e Lisätietoja 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789 I can get over this like Revelation-Six did, importing the cloned model out of ZBrush.

Have any of you found a solution to this? I can upload my model if it helps to solve the case.

I had the same problem but found a quite easy solution:

Before you use UV Master just delete the existing UV Map (In my case Cinema 4D built an automatic UV Map)

:small_orange_diamond: UV Map > Delete UV

Hope this will help you
