This is happening because the width of your model is less than the height. ZBrush applies planar mapping as if the model is square. This maximizes the use of a square texture map but it results in the distortion you are seeing.

It is possible to adjust it in ZBrush, though if you need perfect results you may prefer assigning UVs in another program. Anyway, this is how you can do it:

  1. Turn off any texture on your model.
  2. Turn off perspective. Position the model so that it is central on the canvas and snapped face on. It needs to be properly aligned as this will act as a template.
  3. In the Light>Background sub-palette, press Create to create a background. Turn off the Rotate With Object button.
  4. Snapshot this view to the canvas by pressing Shift+S on the keyboard.
  5. Now in the UV Master sub-palette and press Flatten.
  6. Turn on Move mode, hold Alt and click+drag the flattened tool on top of the snapshot. You can now use the Tool>Deformation>Size slider (with just X or Y selected) to adjust the width/height to fit the snapshot.
  7. When you’ve finished press UV Master>UnFlatten and turn off the background by unpressing Light>Background>On.

A square map should now display on your model without distortion.

Notes: the background is necessary so that the snapshot is behind the flattened model. An ordinary snapshot would be in front. It doesn’t matter what size the snapshot is, or if you scale down the flattened model to fit, as UV Master automatically scales the UVs to best fit the map, whilst keeping the proportions.
