ZBrushCentral

Using the Forum.

Hi,I have been self teaching myself computer graphics for about a year now, ZBrush being one of my main programmes. I have moved directly from “steam art” sculpting figurines. Because I was totally new to computers, I am afraid I am still computer dumb. Most of the contacts I have only use computers for word processing. Perhaps somebody would be kind enough to help me with the buttons under the UBB Code, like List-Start, List-Item, List-End, Image - what do they do? From there I might actually be able to do what I have been wanting to do, which is to join in the forum.
Thanks, in advance.
Dave.

Hello DM, welcome to the forums!
Here’s what the buttons do:
<LI>The various faces under the “Instant Graemlins” section can be clicked, which will add some code to your post. When you actually post, they will become pictures like they are when you click them.
<LI>The two check boxes under “Options”:
“Show Signature” will add the signature you may or may not have put in your member profile. “Disable smilies” will turn off the code for Graemlins, so if you typed “:” and then “)” it would not turn into this: " :)".
<LI>The icons above the box where you type can be selected as an icon for your post. If you look at the top of mine, you’ll see I’ve selected the orange arrow.
<LI>The gray buttons under “Instant UBB Code and Image/File Upload”:
URL brings up a box where you can type an internet address. After this, another box asks you for a name. This then adds some code to your post. When you post it, the link to the address you typed will apear with the name you chose, like this: ZBrushCentral.
Bold brings up a dialog box where you enter text. This adds code to your post to make text bold, like this: Bold & Fearless!
Quote adds code to your post to make a special quote format like this: <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR> Once more unto the breach dear friends! <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>
List start and end work together. By starting with List start, then typing "[,,] (without the commas or quotation marks), and then adding a List end, you can have a list. After the fisrt list command you can add an “=A” or an “=1”. This will automaticly sort the list, like this:

  1. <LI>A
    <LI>v
    <LI>B

You can use the List-Item button to add the lines inside the two list commands.
Email adds an automatic email link that when clicked will bring up your default email program. For example, my email address: [email protected]
Italics is like bold, and makes text italics, like this: I will eat an apple!
Code puts text into another special “code” format:

Image will ask for a url link to an image, which will the be added to the post.
Upload image will allow you to upload a ZBrush image to Pixolators server, which can then be added to your post. This is useful if you don’t have your own web space. Full instructions are included.
Upload file does the same thing, but instead of images it uploads and links to other types of files.
<LI>Hope this helps!

Mulvo,

Great tutorial on posting at ZBrushCentral!

-ZuZu

Many thanks Stonecutter and Muvlo. The tutorial as ZuZu said is great, I would have taken about three hours to type that much. My typing is only fractionally better than my computer knowledge. As I tend to expect everything relating to the computer to be difficult for me, it usually is. It was a suprise when the message came up without any input on my part, of a technical intergalatic code.
I look forward to getting to know you all on the forum, instead of just looking in as I have been doing.

Great Info Mulvo!!
Could anyone tell me how you change the type size and color in a post, like Pix’s recent 1000-posts threads??

Speaking of Pixolator … here’s a copy’n’paste of one of his kind replies in a recent thread (that I was too lazy to reply too!! :o )

How to make a image a www-link with ubb code. (by Pixolator)

TheLink is an http:// link to a web page or another file to be downloaded.
TheImage is an http:// link to an image/icon which if clicked , will activate the the TheLink

IMPORTANT: this UBB code should not contain any extra spaces.

Thanks for the kind words.
Upham,
As I recall, Pix used images, not actual text.
Thanks for the info on image/linking!
