Using Symmetry scultpting around a cylinder??

Hello and thank you for your time,
I have a thin cylinder that pretty much looks like a coin. I am using symmetry transmform tool with only Z-axis on to create the line indentations that you would see on the rim of a coin for example.

However every time I add in the lines, the area on the rim where I immediately add the lines, that is where I see the sculpted lines. On the opposite side of the rim, the lines are sculpted but they are inversed! And on the top and bottom of the rim, there is some sort of falloff where there is almost no sculpt occuring.

Its as i my influence when I sculpt is not centered to the coin.

How can I fix this or “center” my sculpting influence so that when I sculpt in the lines, it is applied evenly all around the rim in one shot??

Regards, Lemon

turn M (mirror) back on in your transforms symmetry options.
