(User thread - Unofficial) For ZBrush 3.5 os X Beta testing, apply here !

Thank you. I agree ZBrush 2 is still a very powerful tool, even compared to the new Mudbox. Unfortunately I’m trying to run v2 on my new intel mac as my older PPC machine is poorly. I don’t have have a properly working version at the moment. I openly admit that the main reason I want to beta test is to have early access to the new version. Who doesn’t?

Would you mind taking a look at my site as I have work on there? Maybe you could make your mind up from that. Not an awful lot on there at the moment but that’s mainly due to waiting for the new release (see previous post). But what is on there you can see I have the slightest bit of skill. For the old guy I took a very unorthodox approach in creating it in ZBrush. Not just the morphs but the wrinkle creation also. I also ran into a few bugs with v2, especially with exporting displacement maps. Some really weird errors.

Although I probably wouldn’t be anywhere near as useful as some of your other guys, I do feel I could be remotely useful in testing out the new version. In fact so would most of the other mac guys here. The more the merrier. It could only work in your favour in getting out a solid release

I thought I was already on some emailed list …but here goes.

what is I can’t remember it… close your eyes stand on one foot and spin three times, to the right or…to the left… oh, what was it? Klatu… Verata… nheeekchava! Alright then. I said it.

Aurick I strongly disagree… and here’s why.

If this Beta Testing happens for mac users, I don’t think the beta testing should be made available to only those with a lot of Zbrush Skills, as this would only set to alienate and infuriate those who aren’t “Chosen”.

Let me explain. I have been trying to learn ZB 2 and 3 but it is a Pain in the butt switching to Bootcamp and Windows and so I have pretty much stopped working in ZB until the mac version comes out. Therefore my skills are less than adequate and I’m sure I wouldn’t be chosen to beta test based on my skills. None-the-less I have only Pixologic to blame for my current lack of skills. If you want to further infuriate us Mac users and lose more customers then let only the best or chosen ones beta test the software.

Foe e.g. Adobe has allowed anyone to beta test their new Dreamweaver 4 software. They have not put restrictions on “WHO” can beta test it. IMO after this looooong delay for Mac users you would be foolish to only let a select few beta test. So either let all beta-test or none IMO.

The Beta testing should be made available to ALL OF US who have bought a Mac license and have been waiting, waiting and waiting for a year and a half for ZBrush 3.

Shouldn’t the customer come first? Isn’t the customer important? IMO It’s really unfortunate but due to Pixologic’s lack of communication over the last year and a half they have painted themselves into a corner with almost no way out. IMO Pixologic has lost the confidence of their customers (including myself) due to their neglect and bad business practices.

I highly doubt there’s a ZBrush 3.x to beta test on Mac. If there was they would have released 3.1 as promised a LONG time ago. Pixologic has absolutely nothing to show for a Mac version… I’m sure that even if they had remotely ANYTHING to show on Mac they would have showed it at Siggraph. I’m 99%… actually… 100% sure they’re not going to be delivering anything in December for Mac.

Prove me wrong and show a screenshot of ZB3.x running natively on OS X. Actions speak louder than words… which means Pixologic has said NOTHING about a Mac version yet, however they did take a lot of people’s money already… a LONG time ago.

I have been pretty liberal about the zbrush over the years as I show new students what “YOU CANT DO” or “YOU HAVE TO DO THIS FIRST OR IT WILL CRASH”. And it’s never flawless at all.
But I also teach photoshop and digital painting and never once have I ever said “don’t use the dodge tool or it will crash the program”
open betas have always been WAY more successful then closed betas.
You have many people in the forums giving thoughts and opinions as you see the bugs get patched and updated.

Your not going to get that from 2 pros doing 3 good pieces of artwork and saying “GOOD ON MY END” 3 months later it sucks!

Not saying the pros suck but really they probably have lives where we don’t.

heh

This super secret crap will only dazzle your customers for another year tops. Meanwhile your competitors will catch up read stuff like this “because that is smart” and realize hey they should take a different approach.

But anywho if you are interested in a person that will tell it on the line that “THIS IS A BAD IDEA” I can do that. And I don’t need to work at ILM or Gentle Giants to show I’m smart enough to make a Zsphere.

Um whats that ball thing that flys of every time it touch it

A Zsphere

See I passed the test

.

great idea,
i’d be glad to help !!

Am I supposed to say that I’d like to beta test on this thread?
The person that began this thread is not a Pixologic employee as far as I can tell. I have a pretty good understanding of Zbrush, I have a mac pro, I’ve applied a long time ago to beta test and have heard nothing. I think I’ve been on the top row more than once.

Aurick has posted in this thread in such a way to imply its authenticity.

I am completely confused.

This is not an official thread. Since people are still being confused even after my editing of the first post, I am closing it. When we have need for additional beta testers, we will provide the necessary info at that time.

Thanks.
