URGENT! Unable to open my project!

I changed nothing in the save settings (like how the files are saved) nor did I do anything different. However, after taking about an hour break from working on my big project (also my first project), I went back and realized I couldn’t open it! It keeps telling me that I need to upgrade to the full version of Zbrush as if the file saved as a regular, non-Core file instead. I tried loading a back up and the same thing happened! I was able to load a previous back up (quicksave) but I lost a lot of work and I’m worried it’s going to happen again. Also, the two files in question are now both showing up as a red x in the lightbox menu.

Also the files are too large for me to attach. I tried to attach them but was unable to. If I could access the files I would make copies of them and reduce the polygons so it can upload but I can’t actually access them. If you know a way to upload a massive file and get it here, let me know.

Sorry if I’m a bit freaked out here (because I am). I’ve been working on this project for weeks and the thought of starting over makes me feel sick to my stomach. I know there was another thread on this but a solution was never found as it seems the people posting in the thread abandoned it.

You could use WeTransfer to send the file to me and I’ll take a look. I may be able to send you back a file you can open. I’ll send you a direct message with my email address. Here’s the link for WeTransfer:

Thank you for fixing my project. :stuck_out_tongue: However, this is only a temporary work around and there is no way for me to prevent this from happening again, especially when I have no idea what caused it. I’ve sent you another PM about this.

The developers are aware of this and will attend to it as a matter of top priority. Until there is a fix, make sure that you save your project with different file names, rather than saving over the same file each time. That way, if this happens again, you have the chance of being able to open one of the earlier versions, so you don’t lose everything.

I’m not aware that this is a common occurrence, so hopefully you won’t experience it again. However, I’m always happy to reconstruct the project if you need me too.
