Updated 3.5 UVmapping Tut's?

Okay so I’ve gone thru a load of existing tut’s for UV mapping. The problem is none of them refere to 3.5. Under my tool pallet I now have separate lists for: UV Map, Texture Map, Displacement map, and Normal Map.

I understand the placing of a high-quality painting(texture) onto a low-poly model so that I can render in Maya/Mental-ray.

I can’t find a good basic method of getting my UV-Map. I must be missing something really simple.

Next up: Are displacement maps the same as bump maps? Another skin or layer to add onto my lowpoly mesh for rendering right? Will require the same updated methods, with the current 3.5 buttons and stacks.
