Update on Las Fallas and Las Hogueras festivals 2022

Hi. I share with you the sculpt that I did for the latest Las Hogueras Festival in Alicante, and an update with some work for the former Las Fallas festival that I hadn’t shown so far. I hope you like it.

Thanks for your comments!

Absolutely stunning! I am impressed by the detail and the composition and all the expressions, it is really amazing the amount of detail. I just want to know how it is printed out, what kind of material is used? is it all hand painted? Who pays for all of this? the city?
Anyways congratulations!

Thanks Diana!
Is printed on polystyrene by means of CNC milling machines. They print it in many parts that then they assemble using wood structure in the interior.
Yes, all of that is hand painted, everything, except the 3D, is handmade. Years ago even the sculptures were done in a very traditional way.
This festival is the main typical celebration of Valencia province here in Spain, so it has a lot of economical support from the authorities. Although the monuments are mainly paid by associations of neighbours. There are many of these associations and they compete in different cathegories to win economical prizes that come from the goverment.
Las Fallas festival is one the main tourist attractions in Valencia province, and is celebrated in March.
Then, there’s another similar festival, a bit smaller, in the province of Alicante, which is celebrated in June and is called “Las Hogueras”.

I hope that clarify some of your questions. Thanks for your interest!

Thanks so much Moises, for your detailed explanation. Your work is amazing and you are an extraordinary artist because you are able to create all these stories and all these characters each one is full of lifeI and personality! I wish the USA would have similar celebrations, maybe you should send your portfolio to authorities here in the USA ? Parades here leave a lot to be desired… I can’t wait to visit Valencia soon and watch your work en persona!

No problem Diana, my pleasure! He he that would be great to see more festivals like these all around the world! Sure, don’t hesitate to visit the festival in person, is such an experience!

Like it, Moises? LIKE it? My capacity to express my love for your work is insufficient. You are an absolute master of form. Your compositions are so beautifully balanced, your playful use of scale and the skilful way you have of visualising, not just the composition but how the sculpture will look in ‘real life’, from any angle are unparalleled. Beautiful, humorous, artful work. Thank you so much for enriching my day!

Hi Moises, Thanks so much for this feast of images! Every sculpture is fantastic. The Egyptian one just floored me! Congratulations to continuing to produce such wonderful character sculptures. It’s a lot of work for that one night, I could only bring myself to watch one of the sculptures burn in Alicante back in 2017. I’m planning to go back in 2024 so I look forward to seeing your brilliant work on display. It took us about 3 days to get to see all 84 installations that year, it was a great experience. Take care, John.
