I have a face photo that requires modification to fit to my model what is the best approach?
Is there a method of unwrapping a model so that textures may be applied in 2d?

I’ve always done special fits with morphing programs, like Elastic Reality. other than something like that, I’m not sure how, since the image must be warped to make it fit geometry. If you are unfamilar with ER, it’s a specail purpose program with no competition, much like ZBrush. It does many, user defined 2d effects.
Thanks for the suggestion.
How do you unwrap a model so that the texture can be applied in 2d?
I did a face to poser model years ago using Elastic Reality. Use an unwrapping program, that allows to drop the wireframe on a texture map. In ZB you can use PM to drop some polyframe wires, from different angles.
Obviously the photo won’t fit the geometry, so you morph the photo to match the geometry, by lineing up features like lip corners, eyes, etc. Take the warped photo, and use it on your mesh. all done. this assumes that the UV cords can be used in a 2d program easily. so auv is out of the question. your UV’s should be continuous for the entire front and sides of the head, so your new texture can work.
great info thanks
