unwanted noise after split/delete hidden

whenenver im trying to seperate a subtool into 2 differented meshes i need to go down to the lowest subdiv in order to split, but when i do that i get unwanted noise. only workaround i have found so far is to delete lower subdivs then split, then reconstruct subdiv. is this a bug?

Split hidden subdivided objects creates the artifacts that you mention.
But split polygroups doesn’t. You could try set two polygroups and split polygroups.
I guess both use different methods and split hidden artifacts look very similar to the ones created occasionally by freeze subdivisions.
