unwanted internal objects appear.

Hi all,
Ive got something strange that appears inside my model, any fix-it ideas out there?
its not on the low levels of the model, but certainly gets worse when i carry on with the model in projection master, its like there is a gravitational pull to the inside of the head , which is ok for a few drops, till they go through the head like giant splinters- oh and it got worse when i pressed GUV tiles before i start to paint??- ive tried deleating higher levels then dividing again but those splinters and pyramids keep coming back!!

Thanks in advance… ZBrush Document-problems.jpg

Probably you were (by accident) in Transpose M mode…
Is a model from ZBrush or imported obj?

Hi Andreseloy,
the origional model was a download head from the pixologic site, that i deleated higher levels on, then edge looped some shoulders, and sub divided a few more times to get a basic shape that ive sculpted lots since.
maybe its something to do with the edgelooping? i really dont know, ive been scratching my head for a few days now…

Hi, this have happened to me a few times. I’m using a mac and z-brush 2.
It tends to happen when my model has lots of detail, and therefore much information. I asked the same question as you a year ago, but got no explanation. So I’ve come to it’s a bug.
In order to avoid this, I simply save out a new model for each major part of the body I do. Then I have something to fall back on. You should test your model by going up and down the sub div levels.

If I’m using the projection master, and the bug occurs, I load up my last saved model. Using the projection master at the exact same place once more, might give you good result without the bug.
It rarely happens again at the same spot.

Best luck, hope you understood my stumbling explanation.
Roger

Thank you Roger,
im ‘glad’ to hear some one else has had this bug!
im certainly saving lots of versions of my models,
its so annoying to finish some great detail only
to have a giant game of pick up sticks turn up uninvited!

Now im working on my model at a lower resolution, that
seems ok for now ( im mac z2 , hoping z3 is improved
on this bug!!)

they’re just stray verts, just start to smooth them down, starting at your highest level of subd’s then go down when you’ve finished on that level.
smooth is weird now for single verts so you have to have like an open canvas behind the vert, so you may have to hide the head and look up through the neck as your pic shows now.

Thank you spaceboy412,
ive been having success with smoothing some of the smaller ones,
i do get the odd one thats about 50 feet long, which are a little harder to handle,
thank you for your reply,

Remember that you can also use Move to move the stray points pretty close to where they belong before you start smoothing.

Hi,
just found a way to avoid these happening (works for me on my G4)
i noticed, as i wait for a tool to become active again (usually after saving) on a high sub div level, or after working with projection master… i usually try and reorientate my sculpt slightly, before its ready.
Doing this causes a crazy internal pyramid towards the invisible pivot point every time…
so i tried being patient! and making sure my sculpt was definately ‘ready’…This works, i havent had these glitches since ( and i dont miss them…)

hope this helps.
