Unreal Engine

Hey guys,

Does anyone here have any experience with Unreal Engine?

My normal maps are coming out quite weak in Unreal compared to the maya version. Can someone please tell me the presets i can use to generate normals from Zmapper?

Hi, what we tend to do (we use 3d Max in our pipeline) is make a copy of your normal map as a seperate layer in photoshop, change that layer to “overlay” and adjust the blue curve of that layer to 127. Just keep duplicating this layer until you get the results you want.
Sometimes you really need to “overcrank” your normal map to get the best results in UE3. Just take a look at some of the Gears of Wars normal maps, they are incredibly oversaturated.

if you going to edit you normal map in photoshop you should try a software piece called crazy bump, stupid name yet its very good.

it is far better than the nvidia normal map plugin.
