Uniformed texturing?

The namor model I’m working on requires scales on his briefs, based on the comics they are pretty uniformed. I thought to achieve this was using normal or displacement maps, but if it is then I’m looking at the wrong tutorials. Could some please explain or point me in the right direction as to how to apply the scales cleanly and uniformed?

Hey there,

create a UVMap. Go to Toolshelf/texture map and do a new by UVCheck with the polyframe on in the lowest subdivision level. Hit the clone button in the texture map tab. Go to top menu/texture and export the image as a psd. Open it in Photoshop and create your scales. Save out the image and import it as an alpha in ZB. Hit mask by alpha and use the inflate slider.

There you go, uniform scales.

Hope that helps.

How do I create a uv map?

Whatever program you are using with Zbrush (3ds max, Maya, etc) find a tutorial on UV mapping with it.

Just use the UV Master in ZB. Couldn’t be easier
