UNIFIED SKIN
After you’re finished with “Initialize”, make it a PolyMesh3D before you “Make Unified Skin”.
If you open the default cube scene(.zpr) from LightBox and reduce the subdivision level to 1 and then perform reconstruct lower you can get down to 6 faces. If you start with the cube in the tool menu you can go into the initialize panel and set some options there before making PolyMesh 3D. Hope that helps.
I have tried this and I get the same results. The only thing that works is going to project and selecting the cube, but its a lot of work. I wonder why pixologic changed the feature

Excerpted from there
Make Unified Skin
The Make Unified Skin button creates a new mesh by stretching a ‘skin’ around this object. The attributes of the skin are determined by the Skin Resolution, Skin Density, and Skin Smoothness items.
What are you trying to do?
