Unified Skin and Painting PolyGroups

Looking for advice for PolyGroups for material changes.
When painting for polyGroups, Is it better to paint on a high Density mesh?

Trying to make Material changes and that requires good edge loops or alot of subdivisions.

Workflow
GroupLoops =1
SmoothGroups (awesome brush!)

Probably not news to some of you ZB pros, but this is a great combo.
