uneven mirror sculpting on X axis

I am using ZBrush version 3.5 on Windows XP x64 . Machine performance is very good.

The problem I am having is somehow my original Zsphere model got offset a tiny bit from center on the x axis and now when I am sculpting, the mirror brushes function does not accurtely reproduce my brush strokes on the “opposite side” (x axis).

I don’t have Z brush open at the moment and not exactly sure what this is called.

I have tried resym and that only destroys my unmasked mesh.

Also could someone explain what 3.5R2 is? Its confusing for me… I think its a Mac version but not sure.

I am obviously not a power ZB user.

3.5r2 is a updated version of 3.5 and is the current version.

zsphere models have a tendency to get offset due to crazy math stuff that i won’t go into. you may want to try the unify button in the tool deformation palette but that may make things worse. or try center pivot in the transform menu.
you can just do a smart resym on your skin once its made. and you need to mask off the good half of your model.

somehow the Pixologic announcement about R2 confused me. what with Mac support…

I appreciate you telling me about the ZSpheres offset problem. I ordinarily build my base mesh in 3ds Max and import it into ZBrush but I had finally started to think that ZSpheres are kind of fun to play with and I get this offset problem. grrrrr! The ZSpheres are really flexiible and allow you to try a lot of things on the fly, I’ll say that.

you can also try the Local Symmetry button. I ran into something similar with R2 recently and it turned out that turning that button on fixed it.

resym worked after I droped my poly count to the lowest level.
