unable to reload tool

ok, zbrush win 3.1
i load obj, i do usual thing, store morph, uv, etc, i sculpt it, i setup subdivide 1, i save tool, i try to export displacement, at this point zbrush not show me menu font, then i must force to close zbrush, i open again, i try to load tool, it show me preview, (it’s a 100 mb file), but can’t load it, it tell me there is an error and is not able to load it.
can i recover my sculpted object in some way?

Once a model has become corrupted, it can’t be recovered.

What are your system specs, and how many polygons and layers does the model have? It’s possible that you’re trying to push your system to do more than it can handle. Also, what are your Preferences>Mem settings? If you’ve cranked up the Undo values, you’re limiting the polygon counts that your system can handle safely.

Another good tip is to use SubTool Master to save your work rather than the Tool>Save As button. (And absolutely do not use Ctrl+S to save with 3.1)

hi aurick, thanks for your super fast answer.

i’m enought lucky be cause is a half hour work, no big problem.

my system is quadcore 9500, 8 gb of ram, xp64.
i start with 3500 poly object and subdivide it at level 6, to up to level 7 i change in memory pref maxpolyper mesh from 12 to 17
i not use layer or other tools, simple mesh, subdivided and sculpted.
i save it by tool/save as

I’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that this got fixed in ZB4. Kinda odd that you have to rely on a plugin to do something as basic as saveing.

i’d like to add something. about a month ago i was making a pair of binoculars, i started by using a primitive turned into polymesh3d, then still at very low res, maybe 36polys i started adding edgeloops, i saved, continued, saved another iteration etc, ended up with a tool about 400polys thats it. went to open them, all corrupt.
i’ve had other issues using the edgeloop command that i’ve posted here as well, hopefully this will be fixed in z4.
so just keep an eye out if you’re doing that, and if so, export your model as an obj. which may help.
