UHF-Head WIP

Hi everyone,

Wanted to play around with the seam masks exported from GroBoto. Found this old model of mine that has plenty of seams to work with.

Seam work is all a bit too much, too uniform, too smooth at this point – will go back and add more variety, remove some of the ridges entirely, etc.

Some grime & age seems in order too.

Best Wishes,
Darrel

Great job so far on this last one posted…I really like the ball and socket joints…:+1:

Hi,
I thought I would express my excitement and shout to the world that I just purchased Groboto after observing this thread the past year.

I will post some images when I have used the program for a little while. Thanks groBoto dude!

Thanks SpiritDreamer

jaystein777 - thanks, look forward to seeing what you do.

Here’s another from my ‘Odd-Things-Growing-Out-Of-Odd-Heads’ series… one of the prevailing themes on this thread.

Started as I was testing some new tools in GroBoto – once again, could not resist playing.

Best Wishes,
Darrel

I really like the stuff you come up with with Groboto … intriguing piece of software

Thank you Intervain - we are excited about where GroBoto is headed.

Here’s a quick follow-up on crabKing.
I may not go any further with this… leave it simple & stylized.

I have dozens of other meshes waiting to be explored. For me, at this point, it’s all about learning ZBrush & discovering how to craft the GroBoto meshes… make them best suited for sculpting.

Hi everyone,

Furniture for my treehouse…

WIP… Experimenting with turning the formal geometries towards something more organic. Have discovered some steps that pretty easily pull these branch-like forms out of the GroBoto mesh structure.

Very cool .

I tried groboto.
I don’t know how you get to be so precise with it.
Keep it coming…

Hi RamRam,

Thanks. You’re on a good path with your recently posted work, always great to see original approaches here.

Right, it used to be tough to ‘direct’ GroBoto – we have a new set of modeling tools that change all of that… very easy & fun now.

There are some examples on the site – especially in the ‘New Galleries’ and the v3 beta sections, including some videos. I’ll have more videos of the process ready in a few days.

Here are some more exploration of SeamNet manipulation – this came together in a matter of minutes.

Best Wishes,

Darrel

Ahhhhh the photonic drill… Sweet memories! A bitch to adjust but then…

Hey man, these models are wicked.

I grabbed Groboto about a week ago from the site, money well spent! Have had loads of fun with it, imported some stuff into zbrush, no probs at all.

Kicking myself I didnt go for the package with the upgrade included, just wasn’t sure if I would get on with it, zbrush is the only “3D” program I am at all familiar with.

Looking forward to the next step in Groboto. Directing the bots is a bit tricky, so I’m sure the new tools will be welcome, great fun to watch as the mesh evolves infront of me though even as it is now.

Keep em coming

These continue to be beautiful, Darrel.
I’m looking forward to trying this out with GroBoto and Zbrush.

I’ve been playing with the beta and with the new modeling tools.
Not intuitive to me. Looking forward to tutorials.

lemonnado - Exactly! useless without a neutrino regulator.

Grot - Thanks… yes, we are moving in a direction I always intended… where the algorithmic stuff is just part of the mix – putting richness & complexity at the artist’s service.

nimblepix - Thank you. Great, look forward to seeing what you do – meshes will get progressively nicer to work with over the coming weeks.

bLawless - Right, some instruction/introduction to the tools is needed. They are still evolving (and unfortunately had some rather annoying bugs in our last beta). A new beta is due out tonight… videos to follow shortly.

Speaking of that, here are some results of recent work in that area… Just experiments & explorations.

Best Wishes,
Darrel

A very interesting study indeed. Well done.

Hi maxinkuk - Thanks… just getting started with this notion of stylized GroBoto figures - I’m guessing there is plenty of range there.

Here’s a completely different direction – curiously, same tools & similar workflow in GroBoto.

Just an exploratory pass in ZBrush so far… will go back and tweak the model & mesh before continuing.

A quick follow up.

Went back to GroBoto and reworked a few things. Added some more detail, and 'tho I’m a bit concerned with clutter in this piece, I think it will all sort out in the end… I do want complexity, just not confusion.

To that end, I tweaked the size & thickness of various elements – too uniform/competing before. Polypaint will help with emphasis – separate & organize the components, provide focus.

…at least that’s the plan.

Darrel

I agree. After Darrell smooths back that ‘vagina’
