Ugly Lines in mesh

Does anyone have any idea how I could get rid of the lines in this mesh extraction indicated by the red arrows in the picture? Smoothing doesn’t seem to do it and I think it’s due to bad topology. It’s an old figure started in ZBrush 2 and unfortunately I deleted the lower subdivision levels so the mesh is quite a high resoultion. I suspect I may have to try and get my head around retopology or use an alternative to mesh extraction for the girls top… or start again. Grateful for any ideas. Thanks.

Mesh extraction always takes place relative to the normal of each point that’s being extracted. Depending on the angle of a bend and the amount of extraction that takes place, the surface can fold into itself with the result you’re describing.

You might try using the smooth brush on the area where the creasing is taking place, then mask and extract. Softening the edge should avoid the problem. Otherwise, it’s probably time for retopology.

Thanks Aurick.
