Hi
Dragon looks good I think. Reminds me of blizzard design a bit, which cant be a bad thing now can it!
Wow very nice dragon! I love the style and how you can really see those nice hard creases in the rocky parts of this sculpt. The polypaint work is also great. My only critique would maybe do a little more detail work with the rocky parts of the sculpt like putting cracks on it and stuff like that.
@daidda: Thanks, I agree its got the looks of some of the Dragons from WoW.
@Dudeman95: Thanks, I was thinking of adding cracks and such, but it was just an experiment, didn’t feel like going through all the trouble.
Here is a new one for you all.
Still WIP obviously, should be updated soon. Does anyone know how I could put this head and neck on a sculpted body, WITHOUT there being a giant seam at the base of the neck like there was for my trex?
You can append the body to the head using the subtool menu and then retopologise them into one mesh.
You should find many tutorial about retopology on zbc or youtube. Just google it.
Nice sculpt btw
Hey all been a while since I last posted anything. This is probably like, my 70th version of a trex. Pretty much in love with this one. I watched a webinar by David Krentz, which was very insightful as to the anatomy of these creatures. Hopefully I can stick with this design.
My last few looked fine but when I got around to coloring them they looked so painted. Anyone have any useful hints, or tutorial links that deal with coloring organically?
Little update, this is something I’ve been working on for a large amount of time, only half finished, but hopefully I can get it done sooner or later.
I’d love to hear thoughts on this.
Wow that is fantastic, great job !!!
nice update ! great detail ! small_orange_diamond
So I just saw Avengers the other day, and the Hulk effects really reminded me of how much I need to experiment with human musculature and anatomy. I got the kind of creative push I needed to look into it. And thus this was born.
Its a bit of a caricature so features are exaggerated, such as the length of the arms and such. But its been my first real attempt at anything human so I’d like some thoughts on this. I’ve looked around the forum I know some of you guys have some great knowledge of anatomy, so any tips you can give please do. If it ain’t to hard I wouldn’t mind some draw overs to show where I went wrong either.
Hopefully you guys wont get tired of seeing dinosaurs from me. I’m trying to become a more varied artist, but these guys are just too much fun.
Its a Giganotosaurus, this guy is larger than trex, not quite as much of a powerhouse though. I’m rather happy with how it has turned out. I’m thinking of trying to sell some of these models on shapeways.
Dude those are some sick Dinosaurs!! great work!
Been a bit since I last posted. It seems like there has been an influx of dinosaur sculpts as of late, so I figured I would post what I have been up to. I’ve been trying to improve my anatomy and workflow, so I can finish these things quicker and more accurately.
Here is an allosaurus I made a bit ago, I decided to play a bit with pose, it was a fun little exercise.
This is a trex, and a fellow called Nasutuceratops, the trex is for an upcoming project, still fairly untextured. And the Nasutu was just a practice with some deep hanging flesh, inspired by cows.
Your Giganotosaurus is amazing!
Hey thanks Lukejn!
Heres something I whipped up in the last couple of days:
This one was a challenge, I decided I wanted to color it. I’ve colored some sculpts in the past but they always looked very painted, it didn’t feel like an organic living breathing creature. I think I did much better this time around, perhaps it is not the most realistic paint job, I know if I where to add something to it, I’d probably add some dirt and muck that collected on the animal over time, make it look like it actually lives in the wild.
Just as a note, there may be some comments about the hands. (or seeming lack there of) This animal is called Majungasaurus, it is a member of a group of dinosaurs known as abelisaurs, they are kind of on the stranger side of the dinosaur family, there arms are completely reduced, and I have been told by people much more keen to this stuff than I am, that it is a good possibility you would not see this guys fingers at all. So its this big awkward flesh mitten pretty much, interesting stuff.
Yikes that dino was exposed to thalidomide in the womb?
Love the colour combo on this dino.
Cool work, i love the color !
Haha maybe, there is some really strange dinos out there. Makes you wonder what on earth made them that way :p. Thanks for the compliment man, its fun to make the weird dinos.
Here is one of my newer works. I’m thinking of coloring it, cus I definitely need the practice. Comments and critiques would be much appreciated guys, I’d love to hear what you all think!
Beautiful dinos, keep up with the work !
good work, as a critique not fault anything, maybe anatomy, the rest is ok
