When I was using the trail version 3.1 of Zbrush, I did not have these two lines, one on top and one on the bottom. When I draw something, these two lines top and bottom are there in 3.5, is this to tell me not to draw outside these lines?
if you hold your mouse down while inside this area you’ll notice it lets you rotate or move your object, it’s so you can rotate etc even when zoomed in very close
I found out that when I zooom my canvas the top and bottom lines are part of a square that outlines my canvas, I am new to this, I hope there is not a bug in my version.
is there a way to make these lines go away ? I find them very distracting …
The lines occur when your canvas is larger than the available screen space. In such a situation it’s easy to be zoomed in close to part of a model so that the entire screen space is filled with the model. This means that there’s no border of empty canvas which you can click on to tumble the model rather than sculpting it. What these lines do is show you a border that ZBrush will treat as empty canvas in that situation, even though it’s not empty.
Incidentally, this is also useful with masking since the mask feature behaves differently depending on whether your stroke begins on the model or on the empty canvas.
