Tutorials?

Hi, gang!

Just wondering if anyone can recommend any tutorials for beginners?

I know about the ZClassroom, but it’s mostly what tool does what, and not really any ‘tutorials’ per se. I’d just like to get started building something - anything - and I don’t much care what it is. Just a good tutorial. I’m not good with learning from books, and prefer video tutorials. Books are a pain to try to hold and read, and work with the software at the same time.

I don’t care. A snail. A gun. An alien. Anything for a beginner.

Many thanks!

This is a great tutorial. I recommend!

I think they have a free video on sculpting a ghoulish critter.

And their videos that aren’t free are not that expensive. I’ve purchased a number of them. Some seem discounted possibly since they use earlier versions of Zbrush. You can still learn loads from the earlier versions as long as you bear in mind some things may have changed. For basic sculpting, it really doesn’t matter what version.

Jason Welsh’s tutorials are also great…there’s a link to them on the Tutorial forum and they heavily populate Youtube and Veoh.

I’m sure I’m missing alot more here that I’ve found helpful, but you can’t go wrong just doing a zbrush search on Youtube.

Also, look in the ZBrush 4\Documentation folder.

Builtdown and Nancyan, thanks! I’ll check into those. Looked into the freebies, but they assume you already know a lot of things, so don’t explain what they’re doing.

Thanks Aurick. Yes, I looked at those, but all those beta testers are way advanced folks, and I’m just starting out. Way too advanced for me. Same with the ‘tutorials’ in the Documentation. Nothing really for beginners.

I was kinda hoping for some geared towards a rank amateur.

I’m old, and confuse easily.
(Don’t get old. It sucks.)

Looks like ‘Introduction to ZBrush 3’ by Ryan Kingslien might be good.

7 hours of training - aimed at beginners - for $50 sounds like a deal.

Think I’ll give it a try. Thanks again!

Their training is reasonably priced. Their shipping charges, however, are absurd. Oh well.

I have this same problem with other software. No tutorials for beginners, and we’re out in the cold.

Such is life. I don’t know how anyone ever learns this stuff. ‘Trial and error’ works with some software, but ZBrush is far too complex to try that route.

:frowning:

Are you sure they don’t have a download option so you can avoid shipping all together?

Hi!

Yes, they do. But can you imagine the download time of 7 hours of video? Even with DSL, that’s a loooooooong time.

You have to sleep sometime! Start the download before you go to bed. In the morning it will magically appear on your computer

Do not, do not!
