Turntable Plus offsets model

Hello-
My name is Randy. I’m trying to output a turntable with turntable plus from Zbrush3.2 on mac OSX. Everytime I render the frames, the first frame renders where the model is positioned, but the next 2 frames offset the model and spin it. Turntable plus then carrie’s on rendering from the models new position and a different rotation point. I have tried setting the rotation axis ahead of time using transform rotate and dragging an axis in the middle of my model. When I do that the model seems to rotate correctly in the view frame, but I have the same results with turntable plus.

Can someone please shed some light as to why turntable plus offsets my model and my rotation axis in the beginning of rendering?

Thank you-

Try turning off the Local button in the Transform palette (or on the right side of the UI).

Thanks for the reply markus, but it did not solve the problem.

How are you setting up Turntable Plus? If you want the model to stay in position then you should set the Start and Stop points without moving the model. Did you do this? Also, do you get the same result when using a different model, such as the DemoSoldier?

Yes, I set start and stop w/o moving the model. And yes I get the same result on other models. It’s wierd.

used Subtool master to export and reimport my entire mesh and all subtools. Now turntable plus seems to work better, but is still broken. Now the model rotate’s about 20 degree’s on the second frame and carries on from there. WTF? No settings seem to stop this from happening. I think Zbrush needs some sort of “clear history” and “center pivot” commands like Maya.

so the issue deffinitely is something with rotational axis and subtools. What Im gonna do about it I have no idea.

edit

I have found a fix to this problem-
I exported the lowest subdivision of my “main” model. i imported it into Maya and hit “center pivot”. I then exported out of Maya as an OBJ. I then imported the Obj from Maya into Zbrush. I then imported my High rez OBJ that I had exported previously with my OBJ from Maya selected. This reprojected the high rez sculpting onto the low rez mesh from Maya. I then imported all my subtools that I had already exported as OBJ’s at thier highest subdivision using subtool master. My base mesh now spins on an axis in the center of the model when I make turn tables.
Sounds crazy, but so is everything else.

Did you test with the DemoSoldier? If you had this might have shown this up as a pivot issue.

You can check where the pivot is for a model by switching off Edit and then switching on Rotate. This will show the Gyro, which will be centered on the pivot. Alternatively the Tool>Preview window will show the pivot for the selected subtool.

You can change the pivot position for all subtools by using Transpose Master. Press TPoseMesh to create a combined mesh, move the pivot by using the Tool>Preview window, then transfer the change by pressing TPose>SubT.

There’s another issue that may be affecting your turntables, due to how ZBrush handles perspective. See here for an examplanation and solution:

Perspective rotation issue

Thanx for the advice. i will look into it.
