Turning full texture into alpha?

Hello everyone, i have finished a portrait bust of myself and now i have arrived to the point where i have to texturize it and apply some surface detail.

I was wondering if i could use the same map for both, i mean:

With Zapplink and some ref pics of myself make the texture for the whole model.

and then i would love to use that same texture to make the little dots, wrinkles… lo that they will stay in place and match with the texture.

Is that possible within Zbrush?? I know i oculd just make a grayscale bumpmap from the texture to rendering, but i would prefer to have it in the original sculpt.

thank you so much.

Also any suggestions for texturing would be greatly appreciated

Perhaps the best approach would be to use the Tool>Masking>Mask By options to create a mask from one of the texture properties (Intensity, Hue, Saturation). You can then use a deformation through the mask or you can sculpt select areas of the mesh through the mask. Between the two you have a lot of control.

Thank you aurick :+1:, havent thought of that.

I will definetly try it , and hope to post results soon
