Turn a primative into a polymesh? Help for a lowly newbee?

Hello, and much respect to all.

This is my first question ever posted, and with no delusions of grandeur.

I really admire everyone’s work and love ZBrush. I am a makeup effects artist and newbie to ZBrush.

That having been said, I respectfully request a little help, (SEE BLACK TEXT BELOW)

As mentioned, I am very new to Zbrush, just one week, and have become addicted to it, but still have so much to learn. Year’s worth, I am sure.

I started this model with a zsphere primitive, and it still is, if I am correct, and have just been playing around. I would like to finish it, but could use a few questions answered. I probably should just start another one, but like the beginnings of the character. I think I need to convert it into a polymesh to continue to divide it, and work with MRME, but I don’t know how, and I don’t see the appropriate part of the Geometry interface shown in the tutorials I have read and watched, to do this?

I AM INCLUDING A SCREEN CAPTURE, SHOWING THE LACK OF THE APPROPRIATE BUTTONS IN THE geometry

I have obviously missed a vital step or two, or three?

Can you please help a lowly beginner with this? (See attached photo)

Reluctantly, (but I believe it to be necessary), I AM INCLUDING A .JPG SCREEN-CAPTURE ATTACHMENT, (Of my humble, 1st attempt at ZBrush), WITH THE GEOMETRY TAB SELECTED. AS YOU CAN SEE, THEIR ARE SOME FEATURES MISSING. I BELIEVE IT IS BECAUSE MY MODEL IS STILL A ZSPHERE PRIMATIVE? AND NEEDS TO BE CONVERTED TO A POLYMESH.
IS THIS CORRECT? HOW DO I ACCOMPLISH THIS…? GENTELMEN???

Much respect to all and your beautiful works. Also, big thanks also to those providing such helpful tutorials.

Just a humble newbie.

Atwooki and Fabio_Henrique,
Thank you.
Seriously…I appreciate the quick replies. Very Good lads!

Atwooki,
Thanks again, and apologies in advance about this next bit, must be tireing for someone such as yourself to answer such elementary questions.
I just noticed that button! And, I did as requested, but I still dont see this part of the features in the Tool/Geometry menu. (See new attachment_Menu missing.jpg.)

Kindly, What should I do now.
I am at 524288 polys and would like to go up higher to get more detail in the ears because at this point I am rather restricted.

Fabio_Henrique,
Very kind of you. It is this kind of support that makes the learning effort worth while.
I appreciate it.

Thanks all,

i’ve only used the demo and it’s been a while. so i may be wrong but…

  1. Save your ztl! (especially cause you’re hearing this from me!)
  2. Make polymesh 3d
  3. Drop your tool to the canvas
  4. Clear layer
  5. Go to the tools palette and find the new polymesh
  6. Draw the new tool and go to edit mode without dropping it
  7. Divide to your hearts content (or until your machine chokes).

cool model!

PETE,
I will give it a go, and post you the result.
Here goes!

A BIG THANKS TO ALL VIEWING AND HELPING ME.
CHEERS!
~MM

And Thanks For The Positive Feedback.
Gives Me Reason To Keep Trying
