trying to re-edit a character from a game

i try to reedit the mesh of a OBJ file exported from a game. But when i try to divide it, this weird thing happens… should i edit it in other program first to make it work fine in zbrush?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-vWd9V4yc4&feature=youtu.be

If you used a DXripper your mesh is going to be all triangles, which a SDS like zbrush isn’t going to handle well.
The holes in your mesh are caused by not having verts welded together (this most likely serves a purpose in the game). You can weld the points back together with Zbrush or you can use an external app to weld them and bring the mesh back into Zbrush. The main then you need to do is edit the triangulation that is going on with the mesh.

i just used noesis to open the MOD file, and transformed the mod into obj.

thanks, i appreciate the fast answer, so i need to weld the groups with milkshape for example… ( i know how to weld’em) and thne fix the triangles with 3dmax maybe?

You’re going to have to basically reconstruct the mesh to remove the triangles. If the mesh is unwrapped you have to keep any edge that is a UV edge as well. This is a tedious process and most hate doing it. You can weld the verts in max as well, and remove the edges there as well.

what if i look how to retopology? i mean its like re-polygonize the model, right? what if i do this?

i’m trying …i saw some tutorials i made the face, which is the most important part for me to retopologize. which is the only part from the body taht i do not want to touch from wesker.

The thing is when i try to mirror and weld ( i cant see this option in GEOMETRY PANEL) in the video i saw his geometry panel is normal…

I can make it go normal if i click on Make polymesh after making adaptative skin, but its giving me a weird effect, like theres no inside or like its inside out… i dont know how to explain. Maybe theres another reason ( unknown for me) , why the mirror and weld button is not appearing there… what am i missing?

You have to make an adaptive skin, like you said. Your mesh has flipped normals though once you do this. This tends to happen on a mesh that isn’t closed. You can fix this through…

thank you very much… i did it, and it worked but now i saw a tutorial and i think, it seems its like for recalculating the triangled mesh and converts it into a squared one… do u think this will work for the character i want to re-sculpt?
