Trying to merge two objects? (answered)

I’m following Rastaman’s tutorial http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?t=47410

And I have ran into a snag. When I get to this step “Place your mouse-pointer over the mesh, press and hold Shift and press and hold left mouse-button while you paint quickly over the mesh. While doing this, parts of the mesh will highlighten in orange what indicates that you just craeted a new topology over the old mesh”. I do exactly what he says but nothing happens with the mesh?

It’s not necessary to use that method. All you need to do is:

  1. Select a ZSphere. If necessary, draw on the canvas and enter Edit mode (T).
  2. Press Tool>Rigging>Select Mesh. From the pop-up select the mesh that you want to edit.
  3. Press Tool>Topology>Select Topo. From the pop-up select the mesh that you want to edit (again).
  4. Press Tool>Topology>Edit Topology.

You may find it useful to set the Preferences>Draw>Front Opacity to 1. This means that the backface points won’t show.

  1. In subtool: when you have two subtool, there is highlighted the merge down and the merge visible options
    2.Plugin:subtool Master

I’m trying to merge body parts I’ve sculpted. Marcus, I use that method but what do I do after I create the topology connecting the pieces? Do I click make adaptive skin? I’m trying to get them connected seamlessly.

Ran into a weird problem I didn’t notice till I zoomed out. When I go in to edit the topology before adding or deleting a line if I hit “A” to preview parts of the mesh have these strange holes, mainly in the hands.

Yes, when you’re done you press Tool>Adaptive Skin>Make Adaptive Skin.

With the holes, ZBrush doesn’t interpret four-sided extrusions correctly. If you add in some edges to make the fingers five-sided (or more) then the holes will go away.
