Trying to get exact results

I need some help. I’m trying to create a floor, I plan on masking the floor, and unmasking the cracks in between. Then using the inset deformation to pull the cracks down or flip the mask and pull the tiles up. I’m having trouble though getting exact results.

How can I make a mask that’s perfectly symetrical? If I turn on semitry it only gives me one other point, I want the cracks to be the same width vertically and horizontally too. How can I make these cracks but make them perfectly even?

(I clicked draw pollyframe and then subdivided it a few times so it has the original lines from the base mesh as a guide, but I might not always.)

Hey there,

one way to pull this off, would be using Projection Master. Hit G, switch on colors, select the grid stroke and under Menu/Stroke you have M and S repeat to change the number of times the grid will repeat. With move and scale you can position the pattern to your needs. Once done, pick up the mesh and go to Tool/Masking/Mask by intensity. Hit make alpha to create an alpha of the pattern (just in case). From there on it’s happy sculpting again.

Hope that helps.
