Troubleshooting trim crash and sculpt not working in 3d mode

Hello, I’m very new to Zbrush, only been using it for a few months but watched lots of vids to teach myself. Anyhow I’ve been having two issues recently and was wondering if any of the more clever people in the community have an idea of how to fix them:

  1. I create a Plane3d and initialize to a cube then MakePolyMesh. When I try to use the Rectangle Trim (BTI) I notice a dotted white line and black side. When this is clear, the tool works fine. However, when I try to snap to an angle along a cart plane, the dotted white line disappears and when I release, Zbrush crashes. Every time, without fail. I’m running win7ult64 and 4R7. I can work around it, but I’d like to know what I’m doing wrong.

  2. Like I said, I’ve been using for months. Had a few instances at points where I would be in 2D on accident in the beginning and not be able to use my brushes. I’ve got something like that going on now, but in 3D Edit mode. Basically, even while in Edit mode, Draw I can not use any of the brushes that sculpt. Essentially when I click the mouse and start to drag, it just pivots the image as though I were not on the object. I’ve tried it on several objects and tools, same deal every time. What horrible button have I hit this time?!

Thanks a million in advance for anyone that might be able to help. I also apologize in advance if these are old issues, I didn’t find anything when I tried to do a search.

Do you have the P3 patch?

Seems to have fixed itself. I do have the P3 patch, thx for the suggestion. After a restart and loading a default tool, I was able to get the brushes to work right again. Then they worked on my custom tools all the sudden. Not sure what the issue was because I tried restarting several times before. Maybe something to do with default params loaded on a pixelogic tool being loaded first after a restart.
