Troubles with zSphere

Hi,

I’m new on zBrush and I have a problem trying to follow this tutorial :
http://www.pixologic.com/docs/index.php/ZSpheres:_Advanced_Techniques

Pictures will explain my problem better than words.

As you can see, the edgeloop socket doesn’t appear and the magnet makes something strange.

Could you give me some help ?

Thx

Hi Agrum, you must be using ZSphere 2.0, the sphere magnet and socket is not integrated into ZSphere 2.0, if thats the case you can use back these feature by pressing the [Using Classic Skinning] in the Tool:Adaptive Skin palette, but it also revert back the calculation method of the adaptive skinning into ZSphere 1.0, which for me personally not as good as ZSphere 2.0. But its all depends on your needs

Thanks for the answer Revel, but I’m using zBrush 3.5R3, that’s why I don’t understand the current problem.
If you have any other idea, please help me again.

You misunderstood the answer. ZBrush 3.5 IS ZSpheres II. (NOT the same thing as ZBrush 2) The magnet and socket ZSpheres functionality is not currently supported by ZSpheres II. So in ZBrush 3.5 if you want to use those features you need to activate the Tool>Adaptive Skin>Use Classic Skinning option. This tells ZBrush to use the original skinning methods, which do support attractors and sockets.

Thx a lot, and sorry for the misunderstood :p.

Thanks aurick for mentioning that. Yes I mean ZSphere 2 is the one that ZBrsuh 3.5 default ZSphere (although there is no indicator that the ZSphere is ver2 or ver1, but if you work with ver1 before, you straightly can tell that the ver2 is kinda have different skinning method when you press “A” for preview). So if you want to use the old skinning method (along with the magnet sphere and socket capability, go ahead and press the [Using Classic Skinning]).
