Trouble with lights and render

Hi all,

I’m trying to learn more about rendering in ZBrush and I’m stuck at something, probably really simple… When I’m using a Basic Material, and have two lights set up, both shows up in the viewport (left image), but when I use BPR render then only the first light source is rendered (right image). Why?

Looking forward to hear from you. Thanks!

Made some progress, the second light is now visible, but I’m still not sure which setting caused the light to disappear? I was tweaking settings in the light menu.

My BPR looks really poor compared to the viewport preview and I get some weird shadows/artifacts in the face. Any tips on why?

Anyone? Why doesn’t the BPR render the lighting as it looks in the viewport?

You have turned On shadows on your back light but not in your front one. Turn On Shadows for the fron light and SSS only for the back one. You will have much better results

Hi! Thanks for the tips. I will try this!
Best,

Once you get it right, it might be a good idea to save the light setup for future use. Having some saved means a lot less work later on.

@dillster — Thanks, good point! Haven’t got a grip of the rendering in Zbrush yet. Reading the book “ZBrush Professional tips & techniques” now, so hopefully I’ll understand the rendering soon…
