Is there a way to trim one subtool with another? Effectively a boolean subtraction?
yes, using the boolean operators inside of the subtool panel (little icons next to each subtool eye icon).
you can use remesh all with these icons.
you can also use dynamesh and create an insert brush from your tool that you want to use as a cutting object.
