trim dynamic brush and layers (polypainting)

Trim dynamic can be used as a texturing tool to create scratches on metallic surface for example (see Joseph Drust tutorial)
But it doesn’t work with layer polypainting ATM

If you want to reproduce this bug just do the following :

  • import or create any hard surface object (a simple polymesh cube will work just fine)
  • Press the fillobject button to enable polypainting
  • Create the first layer, fill it with the base color of your choice
  • Create the second layer (scratches)
  • choose the trim dynamic brush with alpha 58 turn rgb on and zadd/zsub off
  • Paint the model … it’ doesn’t work.

If you press the alt key you are able to paint the cavities of your model, but for some reason there is no way to reach the high points (default brush settings) …

If you select the first layer (base color) everything works ok. (but you don’t have the “scratches” on a separate layer so it’s kinda pointless, yes)

Yes, I’ve been having the same issue myself. Pretty irritating.
