Trim curve with a HARD edge

Hello, i am very new to zbrush and the forum, but not to 3d itself. Excuse me if this is not the right spot to ask these questions.

Currently i am learning Game Environment modeling from David Lesperance. He is using both 3d coat and zbrush. I decided to to start off with Zbrush because doing both at the same time is silly.
One of the things he did in the tuts was carve out his assets with voxel carve. The 2 equivalents in zbrush from what i saw were clipCurve and trimCurve. Initially i liked clip but i noticed it gives jagged results . ClipCurve on the other hand by recalculating the mesh gives smooth results, waay too smoth results on curves, rather than a sharp edge.
So are there any tricks to give Clip curve (not line!) sharp edges or maybe there is some other tool, brush equivalent would be nice to know of, as well. Just to clarify i am looking for a method that doesn’t require 4 steps per cut.

Thank you in advance
