good start on the frog! look forward to seeing what ya do with him.

I love frogs! It’s a nice modell. It seems to me that it’s legs are a little to muscular…

Joost

Aminuts: Thanks for being so supportive, from my very first post till now. You have been a great help. I’m glad you like it.

joostbouwer: Thanks, you are right, I will tone down the muscles a bit, especially in the front legs I think. I like your turtle!

Here is another update, I am finished with most of the sculpting, I just need to do the small details. Does anyone know where I can find some higher rez pictures, because it is hard to decipher what the texture of the frog is like from the reference I have been working from.

The frog is looking great!strong too! keep up the good work Argo:+1:

Thanks tartan. Yeah he has been putting in some hours at the gym;)

Here is another update with color, the color and shader aren’t finalized.

I really appreciate the step by step images showing start to finish that you have included in this post. I wish more modelers would do that. Maybe others are hiding trade secrets, perhaps?

Curiousity here: did you use printed reference material while you were modeling, or did you see it in your mind’s eye?

lol me to ;)…oh btw i do the same but i dont think you will learn anything from my no0b wips

Love the frog and the progress so keep at it! :+1:

Did you say frog;)
A couple of tree frog free wallpapers from National Geographics site. They sometimes have good references.

I never realized how rough their skin was.

well now the pressure is on Argonaut! I know you are up to the challenge tho!

Wow hey guys!

scaramouche: Your welcome! I used reference for the modeling and coloring, Google image/web search and Gettyimages.com.

Artmarqy: Thanks a lot, I’ll try to keep it up;)

Blaine91555: Thanks for those great pictures. I like frogs too.

aminuts: Thanks, I hope so:o

Here is a close up of the bump on the frog which I did some more work on.

Alright here is another update, I worked more on the color an I am happy with it, but not so happy with the shader. I can’t seem to get the specularity the way I want it, so that the frog looks slick, rather then shiny like metal. I also made an eye which I am pretty happy with.

Frog-Eye.jpg

hi

yeah that eye looks really cool! One thing you might want to try is setting the cavity shader settings in the material so it breaks up the skin some this then might give you more of the spec results you are looking for plus it will help show off a bit more the detail in the skin you worked so hard on.

Also I like your colors but maybe vary the shades of them a bit to give more variation in the respective colors.

and keep going!!

Damnnn so transclucent…

I whish zbrush could have such translucent material to do suche realistic frogs…

yah Seb…I have been working on a mix for about a year and a half and now and haven’t quite got it yet…close but no cigar yet.

I do have a feeling tho, mho, that Pixolator will not give us the uber cool update of the century without an sss shader. His awesome gi setup and diffuse curve play offers that possiblity but even in tri and quad shaders haven’t quite been able to crack it in a way I can offer it up to post with any kind of positive yeah this works no matter what model and lighting…let alone light position kind of thing.

working on it tho…damn close…just haven’t found the right nutcracker yet.

Actually your Nurenda post inspired me to pursue my accidental discoveries more…if i crack it…you will be the first to know!

Here it is with updated color and shader. Yeah it’s too bad there isn’t a shader like that, especially for the feet.

haha i like that pic. had to save it for wallpaper as i like the way he seems to be looking at me like I should be working instead of playing.

good job Argonaut!!
