1 question. Is there any way to smooth the edges when creating a normal map or does a person just have to crank up the subdivide until its subpixel size?

wow nice job!
I like the idea of a treant ghost. Anyways, your question. Do you mean that your getting faceting in your normal map out of zbrush, If your getting faceting out of zbrush, yeah I think you need to up you subd until its really smooth. I think the way it works is that there should be a close ratio between your texture resolution and your you sub polygon resolution, I guess kinda like the way projection master works. Not quite sure tho, Good Luck, otherwise this image is awsome!

Thanks Pestopants, I kinda figured that. I guess my problem with that is I need a beefer system  Anyone have a AMD system with dualcore technology that can tell me how good it works with Z?

well I’m don’t know how you have your uv’s setup, but you could thoretically do the same thing people do with multi-displacement maps, instead do it with normal maps. Like if you many different normal maps you could hide and delete the section your not generating for which will give you some room for you pc to subdivide a couple more times. Just a thought.

awesome job, really nice

however, you could go and define the muscles on the orc a bit more, other than that, nice job.

Thanks neuroticgothguy good crit however I pretty much lost interest in the orc after I rigged him  if ever get back to him I will be sure to define more.

very good job, congrats:+1:

Great!

I specially love the ghost…

I love the first image of the ghost!

Hey Bahlswede,

Im running Z on a dual Amd Mp2400, and with multithreading turned on im getting about 25/30% boost with it.
so i figure a dual “Core” Chip would give you about the same jump, more or less.

nice models and textures Btw! :+1:

Thanks guys, I definitely had more fun working on the ghost. PoisenSoul I was thinking workstation class motherboard with 4gigs of ram AMD Opteron Dual Core. Wonder how much that would speed it up?

I have AMD Dual MP3000 and it runs great. one thing that I found out if you run in XP it will only recognize 2 gigs of Ram because that is all Microsoft XP would allow.

Really bealtiful work!!
great!!

Great characters, classic work. If you do some anims with them please post some link to it.

3djock: XP uses up to 4GB with some switch(es) at boot. Of course 2 GB get used up for system but you can always trim services down after that and get much more going for the apps.

giantsun

where did you see that you can use 4? best i have seen is the 3gb switch so definitely would like to know about the 4. plus if 2g got used up by the system then how would any one ever with only 2gs of ram be able to do anything? I think I missed something.

I’m currently using the 3Gb switch, but I’m not really noticing a huge performance leap, as aminuts said about the 4Gb, I’m not aware of this, any links???

Sorry for taking this off topic, great work & a well deserved top row… :+1:

thanks, I like to hear about the ram issue so it doesnt concern me its not really off topic I asked about it  does anyone know if Zbrush works well with the 64 bit windows version? and does that version support more ram?

Awesome characters… really well modelled

Hi aminuts. Someone explained it to me at another forum, that concentrates on eye-on digital fusion…about the “plus if 2g got used up by the system then how would any one ever with only 2gs of ram be able to do anything? I think I missed something.” concern; It tends to do that only when 4 GB are available. Not with less than that.
The PAE and the 3GB options, the AWE memory enabled mode, specific hardware CMOS issues and some Microsoft 32bit OS’s allow you to use much more then 4 GB on your system (Windows Server 2003 Enterprise allows 32 GB). It just depends on the combination you use, and above all it depends on how the app you use, uses up ram.
Sorry bout the off topic.
