I’ve had this idea for a while now .Apologies to Grant Wood and thanks to
all who answered questions latley. I wanted to give this an airbrush feel and
Zbrush render without too much texture gave that look. Clothing and fork
made with Zspheres. Heads are from same base mesh. The rest is the 5.5
version of Painter.
Cool asociation!!!I like a lot Franky.

I absolutely love this! Great job.
Word.
Oh yeah, that is wonderful.the only thing I might suggest, just a suggestion is a electricity on the pitchfork or at least a little glow with a slight refelection in the eyes.
Very nice interpretation of the original! Very cool!
One thing tho, I think the color of the light should be a little bit more blue and orange. Maybe some of the highlights from the sky reflected on the characters cloth and body.
Ok have a good one!
Javier.
OK The technique may have its merrits but hell - when are you americans going to learn that the image you have of places is so far way off what they are really like.
I live near Transylvania and one half of my heritage is from there and this is just so stupid that you relate your image of such hollywood kiddy cartoons with this region.
Now you may think that I am over reacting but its not the only example.
Infact I am amazed at the purile imagery that has lately been posted in this forum. One grotesque monster head after another or bad realisations of so called VIPs. Most of you “so called artists” clearly have never done an art course either theoretical or practical.
I strongly suggest that you do and while you are at it please do a history of the world while you are at it and then maybe you will recognise how beautiful and rich other cultures are. This may just help you to be better artists and also people and may even help to stop the slide into oblivion of US culture which is the way most people in Europe see you these days.
It seems to me that the dominat art form being created by zBRUSH users panders to the gaming and movie industry and there you have a serious problem. It seems like all are trying their hardest to impress an industry that thrives on the darkness of man, violence and other art forms of deviant behaviour. If that is what art is in your world then I feel real glad that I live a long way away from that and thank goodness that we are not overun by such madness in Europe.
In conclusion I would like to say that this forum needs a thorough revitalisation and a much harder hitting crit on the postings if the quality of what the otherwise great program known as Zbrush could offer.
If you do not like what I say then that is exactly what I am hoping and it may just put the proverbial spur in the appropriate posterial place.
Zoopi: chill.
This image was clearly meant in fun, pure and simple. (Fun, as in being an amusing twist on a classic painting; not poking fun at the real Transylvania.) Turning it (or this thread) into a political or cultural statement of some kind would be a mistake.
I might also suggest that slamming a forum and its membership which has done nothing but patiently assist you with answering your many ZBrush questions since you first joined is not necessarily the best approach.
Great picture, cool concept and love the face of frankie, reminder me the image of MM (the first one)
The only crit is the tex or mat of the girlfriend

I like that Frank’s at peace holding the very weapon townsfolk traditionally chase him with. It’s just a tool, and in his hands, it promotes life. An honest day’s work will bring sustenance to him and his bride - what more could he ask for?
To all who commented thanks . The piece was meant to be cropped similar to the original and I thought about having a print done on canvas. Think I will change the eyes to look at Frank too [thanks perpetual_kitsch]. re; illusiondigital’s comment: I wanted it to look like an airbrush painting ,see what you mean , although when I see it on another monitor it has lost enough contrast for me to do changes and up load again.
Thanks everyone
David
love the lady’s hair! looks great!
Nice! I think the concept is both funny (in the fine tradition of parody) and well executed. To me, the irony is that critics occasionally misunderstood Grant Wood’s American Gothic as being satirical in a hurtful way, though Wood was a rural person who very much loved Americana and the farmland he grew up in. Sometimes, the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Keep up the great work.
