Transpose .. or manually rigged character to repose..

Hey everyone,

I’ve got a question for you experienced 3d modelers/animators out there…

i’m working on 3 character models at the moment to be included in an illustration…

likely these models will be used in several very different illustations…

I model my characters in a default arms out legs spread position…

then re-pose them…

ive never used Transpose on a model, but I have rigged lower poly characters in 3dsmax using physique , bones etc…

Which tool is best for the job?

Just want some opinions and criticisms to judge which approach I should take before doing one and finding the other would of suited my purpose better…

The advantage to a rig is that you can use it repeatedly. The advantage to transpose is that it’s extremely fast, and will generally do a better job with retaining volume, etc. than a rig would. So it really comes down to which method is the easiest for you, personally.

So,
With transpose is it difficult to re-pose a mesh from a standing position to a sitting position?..

would it be a headache to do it without making the knee and waist area get all messily deformed?

resculpting of those areas is often required? …

Ive not seen it done first hand… only seen several end results posted on the forums…
