Transpose Master workflow question

I’ve attached a screenshot which will probably make my mistake immediately apparent. Not paying attention, I created my zrig at the wrong subdivision level.

Is there any way I can take this ZRig that I painstakingly created and transfer it over to a lower subdivision version of the tool? Try as I might to store and reload the ZRig through the transpose master menu, it just always says “please select a ZSphere rig.” when I attempt to paste the rig. As you can see in the screenshot, I have the ZRig ready to go… I just can’t get the little guy to work heh.

I know I can just remake the ZRig… but I’d like to sort out this problem. Partially because I only get a couple hours a week to work and I can’t bear the lost time ha.

Thanks.

If you built this rig using the setup from Transpose Master - and the name of the tool suggests you did - then it will already be at the lowest subdivision level. You can try again though if you want:

  1. With the rigged model selected as you show here, press the Transpose Master>StoreTM Rig button to store the rig.
  2. Select your original model that has subtools, make sure the Transpose Master>ZSphere Rig option is ON, and then press the Transpose Master>TPoseMesh button. This will create a new low res combined mesh and set up the ZSphere for rigging.
  3. Press the Transpose Master>PasteTM Rig button. Your stored rig will be rebuilt for the new combined mesh.
  4. Press Tool>Rigging>Bind before posing your model.

If this still gives problems then it’s probably because the lowest subdivision level of your original model has too high a resolution. In that case, your best bet will be to use ZRemesher to create a low poly version, and then subdivide that new model before projecting the detail.

You can save the ZSphere Rig on its own by saving as a ZTL using the Tool>Save As button. That way you can load it back into a new project if you want and use the StoreTM Rig and PasteTM Rig buttons to transfer it as necessary. The buttons will actually copy and paste any ZSphere model, you just need to have a ZSphere selected in order for the paste to work.

HTH,

Awesome. Thanks for all the info. I’ll give it another go tonight. I can see one step I did wrong already…

YES. It worked! I wasn’t created a new zrig in transpose master, assuming I was about to pate one anyway. It’s kind of a “replace” more than a “paste” in this instance.

Thanks a bunch, man. I only get about 6 hours a week to work on this stuff lately, and the time lost getting the right just right was killing me haha.
