Transpose Master Issue (answered)

Hey,

i’d like to use Transposemaster on a character consisting of alot of subtools, but its not working the way i want it to

i.e: trying to use move on an arm with this soft-mask-blending (ctrl+drag) will cause Transposemaster to affect only one subtool at once, therefore i need to ctrl+shift+drag down to select all the other subtools i want the move tool to affect, which is a time-consuming process and not suitable for mechanical stuff.

masking parts by ctrl+clicking somewhere on the canvas works the way i thought transposemaster is supposed to work (the whole model as one single tool), but it results in having hard edges and therfore not suitable for rotating, scaling etc…

btw i merged all polygroups down to one.

so, is there a way transposemaster will treat the whole model as one single tool and soft masking with ctrl+drag affects every part of it?

(merging all subtools before TPoseMesh is not an option)

this is really giving me headaches, so any help is much, much appreciated

Topological masking will not work because the combined mesh still has separate meshes for each subtool. This is essential because if the meshes were welded it would be impossible to transfer the pose back to your original model.

The solution is to use the MaskLasso brush. This makes it easy to mask off the area your wish to work on. For small areas you can invert the masking:

  1. Mask the area you want to pose.
  2. Ctrl+click the background to invert the masking.

Additionally you can blur the masking by Ctrl+clicking on the mesh or sharpen the masking by Ctrl+Alt+clicking on the mesh.

You can adjust the amount that the mask is blurred or sharpened by setting the appropriate sliders in the Preferences>Transpose menu.

urgh, the most obvious things, like to blur the mask, just don’t occur to me ._.

awesome, thanks!
