Transparent Poly frame on rotate?

there must be an updateed way to do this type of thing:
Texturing with photo reference.

Does Image Plane work in ZB3.5r3?

Layer 1 = image
zTool

How do I get the zTool to show the image behind it, when rotating? Not the dots display, that does not show enough of the geometry.

I want to move the points on the zTool to match the image under it.

By drawing on two document Layers ( not Tool > Layers ) and disabling Render > Flatten you are able to use the Transparency modifiers of a material.

1 ) Fill the current document with the current texture, Texture > CropAndFill (CTRL+SHIFT + F).

2 ) Create a new layer with Layer > Create (note the newly created document layer is automatically selected).

3 ) Turn off Render > Flatten.

4 ) Draw your 3D tool on the canvas and enter edit mode.

5 ) Select a material with transparency modifiers and tweak those modifiers. The BasicMaterial and DarkEdge materials are well suited for this.

You might get some artifacting around the projected X axis of the displayed 3D tool but it should not be too distracting.

Hope that works for you.

Ahh thank you! that does work, and now I can continue, but what happend to
the Ryan Kingslin model and paint with texture does that wat of using Image Plane not work in ZB3.5r3?

As far as I remember the ZProject brush has changed a bit. Right now the ZProject brush picks the color/material directly beneath the brush stroke but does not pick up information from other document layers.

I am sure it will all be fixed and improved upon with ZBrush 4. But right now I am not sure of what would be the optimal workflow for what you are aiming for.
